CommentsMy name is Mark Force. I am an old Coastie who served aboard WLB-307 Planetree from 1/77 to 4/78. This was my first ship out of basic traning. This ship holds a special place in my heart, my memories, my time in Alaska. We weathered many storms, she always brought us home. I think this is a great thing that you're doing, not to mention getting a great ship to perform these duties with. Please keep us old "Tree" sailors updated on the retrofit, and its mission. You picked a great ship. Many have served proudly on her. May your mission and crews do the same. Fare winds and following seas. Mark
CommentsI am also a former Planetree sailor. Glad to see she's going to continue in serving humanity as she had in her former career. I am adding your site to my favorites and intend to check in with some regularity. Best wishes in your endeavours, keep us posted. Don Wankel
CommentsHello, An old shipmate, who sailed on the "Planet-ree" as we called it, informed me that you got that old peice of iron. You got a good deal, she made it thru some 40' waves in the Gulf of Alaska, but never went anywhere in too much of a hurry. I enjoyed my two years working on her brdge, and hopes she serves you well. CommentsMight as well join the party. I am another Planetree Coastie. Just like Mark, Planetree was my first unit out of basic training. I served aboard from 07/76 to 12/77. I have many wonderful memories, just like my old shipmates. I wish you all success in your venture. If you ever need a former WLB sailor, give me a call!
